The rolling stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. Their main genres include rock and roll, rhythm and blues, blues rock and hard rock. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and was at the time acclaimed to be the World’s Greatest Rock and Roll group. Estimates put their album sales at over 200 million copies worldwide. Their first members included Mick Jagger on lead vocals, Keith Richards on vocals and guitar, Ian Stewart, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. They were ranked 4th on the ‘100 Greatest artists of all Time’ by the Rolling Stones Magazine.

Much like the Beatles, the rolling stones began their rise to stardom in Europe and then made their entry into the North American market during the ‘British Invasion’. Their album ’Sticky Fingers’ was the first of eight of their albums which made it to number one in the U.S. The band has produced over 20 studio albums, over 100 singles, numerous live albums and other compilations. Among these are ten official concert albums in the U.S.

The Rolling stones released their most recent album ‘A Bigger Bang’ in September 2005, their 22nd British studio album, under Virgin records. This album came after a long eight year break since their last album. The band has performed in numerous tours since their initial British Tour in 1963 until the end of their last tour ‘A Bigger Bang Tour’ in August 2007.

The band started off under Decca Records and have signed with a couple other labels ever since. Some of the labels The Rolling Stones have signed with since include Rolling Stones, London, Virgin and Interscope records. The group is still going strong to this day with Mick Jagger having dismissed rumors of the group breaking up any time soon.
