Guns N’ Roses was formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, California. This is a hard rock band whose other main genres also include hard metal and blues rock. The initial group was first signed to Geffen Records in 1986 and has since moved to UZI Suicide Records.

With over 100 million copies sold worldwide the band has produced six studio albums since its inception. Guns N’ Roses has experienced commercial success since the release of their first studio album ‘Appetite for Destruction’ in 1987 which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200. Their only single to make it to number 1 on the Billboard 100, ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’, was part of their debut album. This album has also been ranked as the best debuting album of all time in the U.S with estimated sales of over 28 million copies worldwide. Their next album ‘G N’ R Lies’ was also a success. The group then later went on to release twin albums in 1991 titled ‘Use Your Illusion’ and ‘Use Your Illusion II’.

The band finally released their most recent album ‘Chinese Democracy’ in 2008, more than a decade after the release of ‘The Spaghetti Incident’ (released in 1993). It set the record for the most expensive album to ever be produced with production costs roughly estimated at 14 million dollars. The album did not perform badly on the charts, having debut at number 3 on the Billboard 200.

The group has had a classic member line-up since its formation, with its initial members being Slash, Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin. Other members of the group are Tommy Stinson, Richard Fortus, DJ Ashba, Frank Ferrer, Ron Thal, Matt Sorum, Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman. The bands line-up was in 2012 inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame upon legibility.
