Born, Robert Allen Zimmerman, Bob Dylan is among the most influential figure of his time both musically and culturally. He was born on May 24, 1941 in Dulluth, Minnesota and his work dates back from 1960 and being celebrated for the last five decades. His lyrics incorporate messages with political, philosophical, literary and social influences. Dylan has explored almost all genres in the American tradition including country, blues, folk, country, rock and roll to Irish folk music and English Scottish music. He has also engaged himself in other categories such as swing and jazz. A man of many talents, Dylan plays the harmonica, keyboard and the guitar.
Dylan made his entry in the music scene with his debut album in 1962 and has produced over 50 albums to date. His greatest achievements are considered to be in his song writing talent though he also made a name for himself as a performing and recording artist. Dylan has also published three books of his drawings and paintings which have been exhibited in major art galleries all around the world. He was also included in the ‘Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century’ in the last century receiving great praise and accolades with the same. He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, Dylan has also received multiple awards including the Grammys, Golden Globe and the Academy Awards.
Dylan’s early songs are among his most famous and include”Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Like a Rolling Stone”. Dylan has also featured in numerous movies including Hearts of Fire, Eat the Document and Renaldo and Clara among others. Dylan began touring in the early 1980s and has been touring all across the globe ever since. His Never Ending Tour is his most famous tour having begun in June 1988 and having performed more than 2300 shows by the end of 2010.
