This is the best selling American rock band of all time with over 150 million albums sold worldwide. In 2001 the band was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has also managed to win four Grammy awards and 10 MTV video music awards. Aerosmith, also commonly referred to as The Bad Boys from Boston or America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band was formed in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. Their genres include blues rock, hard rock and heavy metal. The initial members of the band included guitarist Joe Perry, singer Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Ray Tobano.

The group has inspired many subsequent and upcoming rock artists over the years with their hit singles and albums. Their debut album was named Aerosmith and was released in January 1973 followed by Get Your Wings in 1974. There big break however came with the release of their album Toys in the Attic and their subsequent releases. Their tours in the 70s made them among the most popular rock bands of the decade earning them millions of fans worldwide.

Aerosmith were initially signed to Columbia Records but later signed with Geffen records during their return in 1984 after some few trouble-filled years marred with internal conflicts and departure of some of the initial members of the band. Their comeback was however a great phenomenon in rock and roll history since very few bands have managed such a spectacular comeback. With the record for the most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American band i.e. Get a Grip, Pump and Nine Lives, they are definitely among the best rock and roll group of all times. There most famous hit single was I Don’t want to Miss a Thing (1998) which made it to number one in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and they have had 20 other singles chart on the Top 40.

The group has continued with their tours up to date with their most recent tour, the Global Warming Tour being held from may through August of 2012.
